Areas of Focus

Grief is a natural response to loss. It’s the emotional suffering you feel when something or someone you love is taken away. Often, the pain of loss can feel overwhelming.

Anxiety may feel like fear, worry, or overwhelm that makes you avoid situations or become overwhelmed with the possibility of worst case scenarios.

Depression is a complex mood disorder caused by various factors, including genetic predisposition, personality, stress and brain chemistry.

Trauma is the response to a deeply distressing or disturbing event that overwhelms an individual’s ability to cope, causes feelings of helplessness, diminishes their sense of self and their ability to feel a full range of emotions and experiences.

Anger is an intense emotional state involving a strong uncomfortable and non-cooperative response to a perceived provocation, hurt or threat.

Emotional Regulation

It is important to understand, use, and manage your own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate, empathize with others, and overcome challenges

An addiction is a chronic dysfunction of the brain system that involves reward, motivation, and memory. Over time, addictions can seriously interfere with your daily life.

Your partner is usually the one person in the world you are closest with. Learn how to communicate, handle conflict, set boundaries and restore trust through forgiveness.

At Fancy Therapy Services we use an integrative approach to counselling and work to find an effective combination of treatment methods to suit your unique needs and area of focus. Our primary treatment philosophy is that the client comes first, and we always want to meet you where you are at, during the time of our session. We want you to get the most from therapy possible and believe that relationships are the difference maker. This is usually associated with person-centered therapy (PCT). We also use tools from:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy
  • Mindfulness-based Therapy
  • Existential Therapy
  • Gestalt Therapy
  • Family Systems Theory
  • Attachment Based Therapies
