About Louise

Hey, I'm Louise (she/her)

The best relationship we should have is our relationship with ourselves. My name is Louise Cocchetto, and I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology.  I am also a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists in Ontario.

The therapeutic alliance between you and your therapist is essential for success. Therefore, my therapy approach is based on your individual needs. My goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental and empathic place to help you explore challenges. I am trained in Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Internal Family Systems Therapy using a trauma-informed approach. I believe in meeting you where you are without asking you to discuss anything.

I work with teens, adolescents and adults who are having trouble with many of life’s issues, such as life transitions, trauma, self-esteem, anxiety and relationship issues.  I also have experience working with the neurodiverse and the LGBTQ2S+ community.  I firmly believe in acknowledging the impact of social structures in our lives to help people recognize their strengths and value in this world.  Each person is deserving of dignity and respect.

I understand the courage it takes to open up to someone, and I also understand mental health stigma. So I want to remind you that I look upon you as a strong person for being here. When you become overwhelmed with negative feelings, I will listen without judgement and with compassion and help you discover the resilience you hold and the strengths you possess and have used throughout your life. Reach out today to discuss how I can best support you on your journey toward your personal growth and goals.

I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and an Honours degree in Psychology.  I am also a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists in Ontario.

Beyond my work

I have been married for twenty years and have two children. One is biological, and the other is adopted. I have been through many life experiences, many of which have challenged me. Through therapy, I have been able to overcome and eventually celebrate those times.
